A small oil study on canvas board of The Student, a
marble statue in "The Village at Winona", Winona Lake,
Indiana. I was intrigued by the strong day light that
reflected off the stone in contrast to the subtle hues of the
surrounding area.
The marble statue located on a little island surrounded
by a lily pond, had been originally purchased in Paris by
H. J. Heinz (Pittsburgh, PA) and presented to The
Assembly of Winona in the early 1900s.
